Since opening our doors in Galway in 2005 our industry is completely different now than it was then. Direct marketing would have always been seen as something of a poor cousin to traditional methods of indirect advertising. However, due to the current climate and the necessity for something cost-effective, measurable and most importantly profitable we have more and more companies coming to our doorstep for business. The industry we are in while not the most glamorous is definitely one of the most effective ways of portraying a client’s brand to a potential customer and then converting them into a new customer.
Unfortunately direct-selling has a bad reputation for a very good reason. The truth is, there are back-street sales companies with low standards and low values for customer service and business ethics. We have and always will focus on quality rather than quantity; this has helped us generate a long lasting and fantastic relationship with every campaign we work on no matter how large or how small.
It does take a certain type of person to work within our industry as working on performance based earnings means that people need to have a great work ethic and be self-motivated. When I started in this industry I would never have considered myself to have the confidence to succeed in the sales industry .However after 8 years I have realised that there is no such thing as a “born” salesperson. The confidence to become great at sales comes as a result of great coaching, hard work and experience.
